Conservation Police

In September 2015, 33 conservation police officers and trainees were laid off due to the budget impasse, leaving many counties without a conservation police officer. 25 of these positions were held by veterans. Conservation police officers enforce hunting, fishing, and wildlife laws designed to conserve Illinois' natural resources (1).
